If your filter is damaged or strong odors are coming from your microwave, it is best to replace this part. The only tool needed for this repair is a Phillips screwdriver. First, remove screws at the top of microwave to access the filter. Next, remove filter and insert new filter by pushing it all the way back, so the edges hit the two tabs. The front edge of the filter should rest at the bottom of the cavity. Make sure to replace the grill after installing the new filter.
