I bought the kit for my induction cooktop as I was informed by the appliance vendor (not Easy Appliance Parts) it would definitely be necessary if one had a granite countertop. In my case, it was not required since the wooden cabinets provided a mounting point for the brackets supplied with the cooktop. Check before you buy. I had to return mine.
